Admission to the college does not guarantee admission to the Veterinary Technology program. Entrance requirements for this program include completion of ENG 111; completion of CHM 110, and VPT placement into MTH 154 with no co-requisite required or successful completion of an equivalent or higher level college math class; a college and a Veterinary Technology application, animal experience, and letters of recommendation. Detailed information regarding the admission criteria, selection process, etc. can be found in the Veterinary Technology Admissions Procedures and Information Booklet, which can be reviewed or downloaded from the tcc.edu website. Qualified candidates will be granted an interview based on the number and quality of applicants. Participation in an orientation session is mandatory. Official transcripts from other colleges attended must be submitted to the Office of the College Registrar at Tidewater Community College prior to the application deadline. For further information regarding admission, continuance, and graduation requirements, go to tcc.edu (search keywords "veterinary technology").
Tidewater Community College has received initial accreditation of its Veterinary Technology Program through the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (AVMA CVTEA).
