Student Direct Loan Application Instructions

Please follow all steps below to apply for a Student Direct Loan (Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans).

Step 1 - Direct Loan Entrance Counseling

Entrance Counseling is required for Direct Loans even if students have previously borrowed a Stafford Loan from a Lender.

Step 2 - Direct Loan Master Promissory Note

Students must complete the Direct Loan Master Promissory Note even if you have previously borrowed a Stafford Loan from a Lender.

Step 3 - Direct Loan Request

After completing the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note, students must complete the Student Direct Loan Request.

(Once you have completed the Student Direct Loan Request, click on submit, click on the Print button to receive a copy of the congratulatory page, and then click on the Finish button to complete the session.)

 Remember all three (3) Steps are required for your Direct Loan request to be processed.

Parent Direct PLUS Loan Application Instructions

Please follow the steps below to apply for a Parent Direct PLUS Loan (Parents of dependent TCC students only).  

Step 1 - Direct PLUS Loan Credit Application

Parents must go to www.studentloans.gov and click on “Apply for PLUS Loans.” Select the Direct PLUS Loan Application for Parents. You must log in with your FSA ID and Password.

A Direct PLUS Loan eligibility is subject to credit worthiness.

Step 2 – Credit Approved -  Direct PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note

Parents who have credit approved (Step 1) are required to complete the Direct PLUS Loan Agreement, also known as the Master Promissory Note (MPN).

Step 3 – TCC Direct PLUS Loan Request

After completing Steps 1 and 2 above, parents must notify TCC of their approved credit decision and complete the Direct PLUS Loan Request.

(Once you have completed the Direct PLUS Loan Request, click on submit, click on the Print button to receive a copy of the congratulatory page, and then click on the Finish button to complete the session.)
